Talking with an English speaking resident this afternoon made me realize that I'm loosing a lot of my vocabulary. I Sometimes hesitated to come out with the right word . Occasions to speak the language have become rare. Practicing more often will help, such as going back to reading English litterature and writing in English.
The party I refer to at the beginning is a typical American full of BS. How come he lives here is a mystery to me. He does not know a word of French except bonjour . The whole family lives in the US and all are millionnaires. He's travelled in all the countries of the world, China, India, you name it and he's been there; however, he sometimes gets his stories mixed up, I laugh.
If I stick around with him for a while maybe I'll get to know the true story of his life. What's an American doing here alone in a totally French environment.
It took me a while to write this blog, proof that I've lost the touch. QED
Why wouldn't he live here, even if he is among us Quebecois? It is the best place in the world to live, with a 'joie de vivre' hard to come by elsewhere. ANd somebody will always talk to him. In spite of the media, we don't have that many separatists - most Quebecois have too much class to go that route.
